Key Maryland Civil Rights Leaders Support Van Hollen

Kensington, MD — Today Linda Plummer, Tessa Hill-Aston, and June White Dillard issued the following statement in support of Chris Van Hollen for U.S. Senator:

“As County Executives Rushern Baker and Ike Leggett, State Senator Joanne Benson, and former Chair of the Maryland Democratic Party Yvette Lewis said in their endorsement of Chris: We support Chris Van Hollen, a person of courage and leadership who has a track record of getting things done and who has the ability to win friends and influence people. Chris forges deep and lasting relations with a diverse range of people and organizations, represents their interests, and secures the critical resources that move Maryland forward. It is not about race, gender, creed, or color — it is about a person. And that person is Chris Van Hollen.”

For identification purposes, Linda Plummer is the President of the Montgomery County chapter of the NAACP and June White Dillard is the former President of the Prince George’s County chapter of the NAACP. They join Tessa Hill-Aston, President of the Baltimore City chapter of the NAACP, who announced her support of Van Hollen in December. All three leaders are endorsing in their personal capacity.
